BELL, Josephine. To Let. Furnished

£60.00

BELL, Josephine. To Let. Furnished. London: Methuen. 1952. 8vo. First edition. Publisher’sblue cloth with lighter blue lettering to the spine, in the dust jacket designed by Oliver Carson.

The scarce first edition of this romance mystery about a woman who feels compelled to rent a mysterious house amid her own ominous past. A scarcer title by the pseudonymous Bell, whose real name was Doris Bell Collier.

A very good copy, the cloth a trifle discoloured at the tips, the headband bumped but the binding tight and square. Contents clean and fine but for a small ink signature to the front endpaper. The dust jacket unclipped, with a large tear to the front flap joint, tape repaired at verso, with some other smaller closed tears, several small nicks and shallow chips to corners and tips, but an attractive copy overall. Scarce.
