BLACKBURN, John. Children of the Night
BLACKBURN, John. Children of the Night. London: Jonathan Cape. 1966. 8vo. First edition. Publisher’s blue cloth lettered in silver gilt to the spine, in the dust jacket designed by Jenifer Armour. A very good ex-library copy, though with only one discreet ‘British Sailors Society’ to the rear pastedown. Perhaps a trifle rolled, with some light handling marks within, else clean. The dust jacket unclipped (18s net) and complete, some light rubbing and tiny nicks to the corners and the spine a little faded, but still a nice example of this title.
Lauded as one of Blackburn’s finest novels, and one which directly juxtaposes horror and science fiction. An underground lost race finally, after centuries of cultish mystery and murder, make an appearance in a quiet North Yorkshire village, with telepathic death to follow. Uncommon.
