BURGESS, Anthony. The Wanting Seed

£50.00

BURGESS, Anthony. The Wanting Seed. London: Heinemann. 1962. 8vo. First edition. Publisher’s green cloth lettered in black to the spine, in the wraparound dust jacket designed by Brian Russell. A very good book, the cloth a little mottled and marked, the spine a trifle concave but the binding tight and square, the contents with some very faint scattered foxing to prelims, else clean. The dust jacket unclipped and complete, with some shallow nicks and chips around the corners and spine head and tail, with a large closed tear to the rear panel bottom edge.

A dystopian novel dealing primarily with overpopulation. In culture, homosexuality is encouraged, heterosexuality is criminalised. Burgess wished to revisit the novel and its themes openly.
