ELSNER, Eleanor. The Airway to See Europe: A Woman round the Airways of Europe. With a foreword by Rt. Hon. Lord Thomson. London: Albert Marriott. 1930. 8vo. First edition. Publisher’s blue patterned cloth lettered in dark blue to the spine, in the attractive pictorial dust jacket. A very good copy, the cloth clean and only a trifle bumped, the binding tight and gently rolled. A few light marks to the textblock edges, the contents for the most part fine, with ink ownership signature to front endpaper (Phyllis Keep). Light scattered foxing on occasion throughout. The dust jacket unclipped (6/- net) with some rubbing to most corners and joints, spine tips, but a handsome copy overall.

‘The first Guide Book to the Air written by a woman’, the front flap states. Elsner penned several volumes of non-fiction on her travels across much of Europe and North Africa. Here, the author shows her prowess in helping plan short and longer trips, with various suggested itineraries, routes, and more, less than a decade after such air trips were opening up to the public. Accompanying the text are numerous photographic plates, all present.
