FERGUSON, Ken. The Dragon Parade (signed)
FERGUSON, Ken. The Dragon Parade. Cramlington: Ken Ferguson. 1986. 4to. Portrait format with black cloth binding to top edge, binding glued. Illustrated wraps. One of 250 copies signed by the artist with blindstamped motif to front. With numerous relief prints designed, hand cut and printed by Ferguson, plus large folding plate at centre. Virtually disbound due to the cheap glue binding quality, only the final four pages attached to front and rear wraps, but nonetheless lending itself to such a flaw, being full-page illustrations. Light marks here and there, corners a trifle bumped, but a handsome copy otherwise.
An unusual volume borne out of a summer holiday project in Blyth, Northumberland in 1986. The community set up a workshops to construct a giant carnival dragon. Children aged 7-14 participated in creating the dragon, and constructed kites that flew from the dragon’s mouth. The result was a procession that flew around the town and beyond. Uncommon.
