FINDLAY, D. K. Search for Amelia

£30.00

FINDLAY, D. K. Search for Amelia. London: Bles. 1959. 8vo. First edition. Blue cloth with silver gilt lettering to spine, in the dust jacket by Elizabeth Andrewes. First British edition of this wartime love story, the Canadian author’s first novel. Findlay spent some time in Britain and was, even before the publication of this, a self-sustaining writer. A very good book, the cloth a little marked at the extremities with a faint crease along spine, the binding tight with a gentle reading lean. Spots to the textblock edges and at prelims, then usually fine throughout. The superb dust jacket very good, some small nicks and chips to the corners and spine tips, the rear panel with a few marks. Rather scarce, much less common than the uncommon first US edition.
