PALLISTER, Minnie. Rain on the Corn

sold out

PALLISTER, Minnie. Rain on the Corn and Other Sketches. London: Independent Labour Party. 1928. 12mo. Softcover printed wraps with French flaps. Ramsay Macdonald provides the foreword. The first (and only) edition of Pallister’s collection of thoughts and observations. Pallister was a political activist and politician, and a lifelong pacifist. She retired from politics after defeat in the 1924 general election due to ill health, and turned to writing, usually with a leftist slant. This copy very good, externally clean with the corners and edges just very gently bumped. The binding tight though the front cover coming away a touch from the binding. Internally, mostly excellent, with an intriguing inscription to the half-title, a few instances of toning in places, but usually fine. Scarce.
