Publisher’s red cloth lettered in gilt to the spine, in the striking dust jacket designed by Gladys Hynes. A very good example, the cloth clean and bright, the gilt just a trifle rubbed, the binding tight and square. The topstain vivid, the contents clean with some light spots to textblock edges only. The dust jacket unclipped (5/- net), closed tear to top edge, and a couple of other tiny nicks to corners, but a well-preserved copy overall.

Born in India, Gladys Hynes was a master of many mediums, accomplished in sculpture, various art forms, and even delved into dust jacket design, albeit very sporadically. A staunch feminist and campaigner for Irish independence, she studied at Newlyn and at the London School of Art, associating with Stanhope Forbes, Roger Fry, Frank Brangwyn, and became close friends with Ezra Pound whose Cantos she illustrated. Scarce.
