THOMSON, George Malcolm. Crisis in Zanat (Neil Gunn's copy)

£75.00

THOMSON, George Malcolm. Crisis in Zanat. London: Faber and Faber. 1942. 8vo. First edition. Red cloth lettered in black to the spine, in the dust jacket. Thomson’s first novel, ‘a gay as well as grim’ light-hearted tale set in Illyria. Thomson founded the Porpoise Press in his final university year, and is probably best remembered for his Scottish nationalism. From the library of Neil Gunn, with ‘Gunn Brae’ marked in crayon to the front endpaper. Gunn and Thomson played a key role in the formation of the Scottish National Party. A very good copy, the cloth a little bumped to corners and tips, the binding tight with a minor lean. Some toning within from paper quality. The dust jacket unclipped (7s 6d net) with all four corners neatly cut. Some light rubbing to the corners and tips, and at flap joints, but an attractive example.
