TRAVEN, B. The Carreta
London: Chatto & Windus. 1935. First English language edition of the elusive author's first 'Jungle' novel. Born in Germany and living for most of his life in Mexico, little is known of Traven and conspiracy abounds as to the true identity of him, from Kaiser Wilhelm II's illegitimate son to Jack London. A very good book, fine but for some water staining to the boards and endpapers only, in a very good clipped dust jacket with the matching water marks and some small closed tears.
