WIGNALL, Trevor C. KNOX, Gordon D. Atoms (signed)
WIGNALL, Trevor C. KNOX, Gordon D. Atoms. London: Mills & Boon. 1923. 8vo. First edition. Publisher’s brown cloth lettered in black to spine and upper board, black ruling along edges. This copy warmly inscribed by Gordon Knox, “To Tom Greig // in memory // of furnishing // of growing // of C2H5O (ethanol) // of a typewriter // of homes // and of many other pleasant occasions from an affectionate colleague, Gordon D Knox”. Paris-set “science fiction novel of the future; the harnessing of atomic energy and broadcast power." - Locke, A Spectrum of Fantasy, p. 231. Towards the end, in a dream sequence, Paris is destroyed. A nice example, some mottling to the boards, corners and tips bumped but the binding tight and gently rolled, some light spots to textblock edges. Internally, some light toning throughout from paper quality, but certainly a respectable copy. Scarce, especially so with the wonderful author’s presentation inscription.
